Corten or Weathering Steel Work

Furniture

  1. What kind of finish does your funiture have on it?

After our furniture is assembled and prepped, it is sandblasted to make sure the surface rust free and that the finish will adhere properly, phosphate washed, then dried.   It is then primed with a zinc powder coat and finally a colored powder coat.  This insures long lasting quality for all our furniture.

  2. What kind of maintence does your furniture require?

Our furniture is made to stand up in all types of weather.  We take special care to insure your piece is easy to care for year round.  Washing with a soft rag or soft car brush with a gentle detergent is all the care needed to keep it clean.

Do not use sharp objects around it as they may gouge through the finishes and allow the metal to rust.

Corten or Weathering Steel Work

  1. How do I maintain my Corten piece of art?

Corten, or weathering steel, is made especially to go outdoors.  It will rust until it gets an even patina on it which then acts as a protective coating, and then it will stop rusting.  Your Corten piece of art is maintenance free.

If your piece of art includes a limestone or rock base we recommend sealing the holes between the art and the base if you are going to leave it out in the winter as the hole may file with water and freeze which may allow the rock to crack.  You can use industrial sealer like E-6000 to seal this area.
